Recognise stress signatures and the impact of transactional stress
Explore different coping styles
Learn practical strategies to manage stress and improve wellbeing

Stress affects us all; but how we experience and manage it varies. This course looks at how stress presents in both ourselves and those around us, offering insight into different coping styles and practical ways to reduce stress and support overall wellbeing in everyday situations.

In this course, you’ll build a deeper awareness of your own stress and wellbeing, as well as that of the people you support. You’ll explore the concept of stress signatures — recognising that stress can look different from person to person — and gain an understanding of transactional stress and how it can affect interactions. The course also covers a range of coping styles and offers practical strategies to help manage stress and create a calmer, more supportive environment for everyone.

Understanding Stress

You’ll start by exploring what stress really is and how it affects both yourself and the people you support. By developing greater self-awareness, you’ll begin to recognise the signs of stress in everyday situations and understand how it can impact overall wellbeing.

Stress Signatures & Transactional Stress

Next, you’ll learn how to identify unique stress signatures – the personal ways people show they’re under pressure. We’ll also look at transactional stress, understanding how stress responses can influence and escalate between individuals, and the wider impact this can have.

Coping Styles & Strategies

Finally, we’ll explore the different coping styles people use to manage stress and how these can vary from person to person. You’ll gain practical strategies and tools that can help reduce stress and support resilience and wellbeing in yourself and those you work with.

This course is designed for anyone supporting or working alongside autistic people who wants to build their confidence in recognising and managing stress – both their own and in others.
