Online vs In-Person Training: What’s the difference?

We know every organisation is different and that there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to training. We want to support as many as possible to create more inclusive environments for autistic people, which is why we offer a range of bespoke training solutions – in-person and online – tailored to suit your team’s unique needs, goals and circumstances.
Our courses are available face-to-face, remotely — or a mix of both. Whatever route you take, it’ll be designed with you in mind. Our multi-channel delivery balances accessibility and convenience perfectly, without compromising on quality; so you can learn in the way that suits you best.
No matter your field—social care, education, retail, or beyond—we offer tailored courses to support your journey. Our training is open to everyone, not just professionals. Part of a local community group? We can support you in creating a space that’s accessible to as many people as possible.
‘Our training is shaped by lived experience and a deep understanding. It’s practical, empathetic and designed to make a real impact no matter if it’s online, or in person’
Online Training: Is it for you?
Ten years ago, we became the first charity to launch an e-learning platform for parents and carers of autistic people. Since then, we’ve stayed at the forefront of online support — driven by the commitment to deliver digital support that truly makes a difference.
Inclusivity is at the heart of Elevate, so we’re proud to offer an online service that fits into real lives, anytime, anywhere. We believe support should have no boundaries – that’s why we’ve embraced technology to reach more people than ever through our dedicated learning platform.
What truly sets our online training apart is that you set the pace. Our plans are built to fit your team’s schedule, not the other way around. A combination of self-lead learning and continuous online assessment means learners are supported at all points of their journey, no matter their speed of travel.
All our online courses include built-in assessment questions, allowing learners to track their progress in real time. For employers, this is a great way to see what your team has learned, with certification to show for it. Online learning is great for continuous assessment, but it’s also perfectly suited for teams working disparately. Everyone receives the same high-quality training, wherever they’re based.
And if there’s anything you’re unsure about during your learning, don’t hesitate to reach out. Whether you’ve got a question or just want to chat something through, our team will always be on hand to help.
What does in-person training look like?
If you’re looking for a more interactive, discussion-based space to reflect on your learning, our in-person training could be the perfect fit. While the content covered closely mirrors our online offering, the key difference lies in the experience. In-person sessions create space for real-time questions, deeper conversations, and direct engagement with facilitators.
Our team is a mix of people with lived experience, some who are autistic themselves, and others who’ve worked hands-on as practitioners. If you join one of our in-person courses, one of our trainers will come to you, spend time with your team, and create a space where you can really explore, reflect, and ask questions about your current practice.
Training a bigger group? In-person sessions can also offer better value than signing everyone up for separate online courses.
No matter if you go with our online, in-person, or hybrid training approach, we bring the same level of expertise and care — ensuring your team gains the practical tools, insight, and confidence to foster truly inclusive spaces for autistic people.
